Former Bonding Agent Arrested For Soliciting Prostitution Arrested Again

A former bonding agent scheduled to go to trial next week for two misdemeanor counts of promoting prostitution saw the case dismissed by Judge Trish Rose, but she did so because the state filed a new case with charges alleging 6-level one felonies.

Dwight Jurgens showed up for what he thought was pretrial hearing only to learn of the new allegations. His attorney, Sam Kepfield wanted the entire case dismissed citing speedy trial, but that was denied.

Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton told the court that some additional individuals came forward in the case leading to the new charges. Charges now include two count of aggravated human trafficking , two counts of attempting to do the same thing, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy. The human trafficking and aggravated counts are due to his authority of controlling persons because of his bonding business. He had worked for TNT Bonding at the time of the initial arrest.

He was also a well known newspaper reporter at the Hutchinson News, and also worked as an assignment editor at a Wichita television station for a while until he entered the bonding business.

Sheriff Detectives placed Jurgens in cuffs in the courtroom and he was taken to jail on a new bond of 100-hundred thousand dollars.

Sheriff officials have remained quiet over what they are actually alleging occurred in this case, but would indicate that he was allegedly attempting to satisfy his sexual needs. With the new charges, Jurgens could be looking at a long sentence if convicted.

When he will make an initial court appearance and which courtroom is unknown. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen had recused himself from any court hearings regarding the earlier allegations.
