A 31-year-old Nickeson man is free on bond after being arrested for two counts of criminal use of explosives, interference with law enforcement and aggravated endangerment of a child.

Daron Ingham was arrested Sunday on the charges after a Reno County Sheriff Deputy was called to a home at 400 North Edgemore in Nickerson. The deputy was told by Ingham that the pipe bomb was created to blow up a small boulder for gold.

About that same time, another report of a possible IED came in at 14600 West K-96 at an oil pump station. The reporting party there indicated that a man and a child in a white pickup pulled onto the site. The safety officer there alleges the man threw a pipe bomb at his feet.

Ingham apparently showed the deputy, Jack Trussell the items he used to make the pipe bomb. He pulled the items out of a white truck. While showing the deputy the smokeless power container, he dumped the powder on the ground.

Ingham was taken to jail on the charges and made a first appearance in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen. He managed to get a 12-thousand 500-dollar bond reduced to 4-thousand dollars.

He will be back in court on Wednesday for a status hearing to see if the state filed formal charges.
