David T. Patterson, Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy director, has been named the 2013 Administrator of the Year by SkillsUSA Kansas. Patterson was nominated for the award by the students and staff at HCTEA.

The educator supports students as they work to improve their skills in leadership, community service and technical skills. Patterson assists staff as they attend leadership conferences and state and national competitions with their students.

After review of the applicants, the SkillsUSA Kansas Youth Foundation also supported this award because of Patterson’s support at the state level by hosting some of the Kansas SkillsUSA championships at HCTEA. The welding fabrication and electrical construction wiring competitions will be held at HCTEA on April 9.

Patterson will receive the award April 24 at the opening ceremony of the SkillsUSA Kansas Championships in Wichita.
