A Reno jury were “hung” on two burglary charges against Rusty Bryant, in other words they couldn’t agree on a verdict. However, they find him “guilty” of two counts of theft Wednesday.
One of the alleged crimes occurred outside Grace Bible Church at 1221 East 33rd. He allegedly stole tools from Wiens and Company Construction and their employees. They had a semi trailer at that location and he allegedly broke a lock and stole various tools from the truck. The other incident involves him breaking into a vehicle at a nearby car lot and stealing a GPS Device and CD’s. The victim had left her vehicle there overnight.
The jury verdict basically states they believed he stole the items which were found in a storage shed behind the home where he was staying, but couldn’t agree that he broke into a trailer and a vehicle to steal the items on July 13, 2012.
It’s unclear at this point if the state will try him again on the two burglary counts.
He does face sentencing Friday in another case where a jury found him guilty of 4-counts of aggravated burglary and 7-counts of auto burglary associated with crimes in the Prairie Dunes- Linksland Drive area in suburban Hutchinson between July 5, and 11 of 2012.
