The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld the sentence of a 41-year-old man convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and lewd and lascivious behavior.

Kevin Conrad had argued that his sentence under Jessica’s law is unconstitutional saying its cruel and unusual punishment. He also believes he should be paroled after 20-years.

The conviction coming after the sexual abuse of four kids. In return for his plea to the four counts, the state dismissed six additional counts. The crimes on the victims occurring between August 2005 and January 2007. The victims were both male and female ranging in age from 9 to 13 years old.

The court ruled that the sentence handed down by District Judge Joe McCarville is not cruel or unusual punishment.

However, they did overturn one part of the conviction, that being the court imposing lifetime post-release supervision saying that’s illegal even under a Jessica’s Law case.
