County Commissioner Dan Deming’s efforts to get county funds to buy a computer and other equipment to stream the audio of the County Commission meetings over the Internet didn’t garner any support from the other commissioners.

Deming decided he wanted to try to get the meetings streamed after the local newspaper ceased streaming video of the meetings.

The county doesn’t have the luxury of the city who broadcast their meetings live on Cox Cable Channel 7, and also replay the meetings at various times.

But, Commissioners Brad Dillon and James Schlickau seemed against spending the money, which Deming says would be around 15-hundred dollars for the streaming of the meetings.

He says the local newspaper was carrying a video stream of the county meetings on their website until personnel issues got in the way. So they stopped doing it about three weeks ago.

Deming says the idea is to carry it on the county website, possibly the newspaper and any other website that might be interested so more people can be aware of whats going on in county government.

But, the other two county commissioners don’t see the justification for spending the money, and the final vote on the issue will come next week.
