City Council Approves Negotiations For Sale of Fire Station

The Hutchinson City Council gave their approval Tuesday giving the city the green light to enter into negotiations for selling the current fire station adjacent to Central Christian School on east 30th. The station will be closed when the new fire station is completed on east 30th Avenue, east of K-61 highway.

Central Christian School has expressed interest in the building and land, and have a planned use for the property, if they can purchase it. Two other parties have also inquired about the building.

The land is zoned under Commercial/Residential District and could accommodate offices, banks, various types of retail business and restaurants.

It does not include convenience stores, gas stations, department stores and car dealerships. The school would also have to apply for a conditional use permit if they wanted to use the building for additional classroom space.

The city can sell the property by bid, private sale, or by auction.
