Tom Canfield, a corrections specialist at Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF), was one of five individuals honored recently by the Kansas Department of Corrections. Canfield was selected as Uniformed Employee of the Year at a reception in Topeka. He was presented the award by Governor Sam Brownback and KDOC Corrections Secretary Ray Roberts.

Canfield is the K-9 officer at Hutchinson and serves on the board of directors of the Kansas Police Dog Association.

He’s instrumental in searches for contraband, turning up everything from drugs to money to cell phones.
