An alleged contractor has been charged by the state for two cases the state has filed for several counts of theft by deception. Some of the charges coming from the county, but most within the city of Hutchinson.

On Wednesday, Tony J. Jeffery was arrested for 3 counts by detectives with the Reno County Sheriff’s Office. He was also arrested by Hutchinson Police Department for several counts in the city.

The cases stem from reports of Jeffrey taking money from individuals to do various types of roofing and asphalt type of jobs which were never completed. These individuals were given estimates from his business called “Quality Construction.”

The Sheriff’s Office and Police Department have been working with the Attorney General Office on these cases. It appears that other individuals are involved in these same type of thefts.

It appears that elderly citizens have been targeted for these thefts.

Officials are advising you to use good business practices when hiring people to do jobs and make elderly relatives aware.

Jeffrey is jailed on a 3-thousand dollar bond and the state has already filed formal charges. That means his cases will be place on a future waiver-status docket.
