The Reno County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday received information that citizens are receiving phone calls from a company claiming to be a associated with microsoft windows.

They call your phone and claim that they have seen trouble on your internet service. They ask you to login to your computer and once you have done that they walk you through a process to gain remote access to your computer.

Once they are on your computer it has been reported that viruses have been placed on the computer and then they ask for money to remove them.

They also have the ability to gain access to your private accounts while distracting you with conversation.

Microsoft was contacted Saturday and advised that this is definately a scam as they would never have a company call your home to access your computer.

DO NOT log in to your computer if you receive a phone call from someone claiming theirs a problem.
