A Reno County Sheriff Deputy who was arrested and charged with two counts unlawful sexual relations with an inmate, two counts of aggravated intimidation of a victim and two counts of bribery will have a preliminary hearing on the matter next month.

The charges against 30-year-old Jonathan Diaz were filed by the state after a nearly 2-week internal investigation ordered by Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson.

Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen set a hearing date of July 31, during a status hearing in the case Tuesday morning.

The allegations were made against Diaz by female inmates in the jail. That led to a request to allow local KBI Agent Jeff Newsum to follow up and continue the investigation.

Bond in the case was set at 100-thousand dollars.
