David Arredondo, M.Div., has been named Chaplain and Director of Pastoral Care at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

He joined the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center staff in April after a three year tour of duty in the United States Army as Deputy Hospital Chaplain at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, CO.

Arredondo, a Major in the United States Army Reserves (USAR), has over 21 years in the military, including service as a battlefield chaplain in the Iraq War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He now serves as Chaplain for the 4204th U.S. Army Hospital in Topeka, KS.

As the Director of Pastoral Care, he will coordinate with area pastors and clergy to assist patients and their loved ones with spiritual needs and concerns including illness and end of life issues. His goal is to provide comprehensive pastoral care to all within the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System.

He plans to make daily visits throughout the five floors of Hutchinson Regional, including the Emergency Department, to confer with staff and patients who may wish to visit with a clergyman about spiritual issues they may be dealing with.

Dan Stafford, Vice President of Compliance and Quality for the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said Arredondo brings a wealth of experience to his new role as Director of Pastoral Care.

“David has an extraordinary background as a chaplain for the United States Army including two tours of duty in the Iraq War,” Stafford said. “His wealth of experience includes expertise in Critical Incident Stress Management and as an accomplished Clinical Pastoral Education preceptor.”

“He has hit the ground running to provide spiritual guidance to patients and families at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center who are dealing with critical illnesses and end of life issues,” Stafford continued.
