A Halstead Woman was critically injured in a two vehicle accident in Chase County Tuesday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 52-year old Brenda Coursen was traveling westbound on US-50, when an eastbound pick up driven by 74 year old James Gaddert, of Leawood, crossed the center line, and hit Coursen’s car head on. Coursen was taken by EMS to Emporia Hospital and then airlifted to Wesley Medical center in Wichita. Gaddert was airlifted from the scene to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The accident happened around 2:30pm, 8 miles east of Strong City, or about 10 miles west of Emporia
