A 48-year-old Hudson man who entered guilty pleas as charged in a drug case was sentenced Friday to a total of 189-months in prison. However, the sentence for George Krankenberg in this case will run concurrent with the sentence he’s currently serving.

Krankenberg was arrested on July 7, 2011, on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, personal use drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp and the sale of methamphetamine. He entered “guilty” pleas as charged on all five counts.

The case starts when Reno County Drug Enforcement Unit detectives reported doing surveillance on him. They say they observed Krankenberg in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Hutchinson, when another vehicle drove up, a white female driving got into Krankenberg’s vehicle and they drove towards the rear of the business, and after several minutes, he brought her back to her vehicle.

Officers believed that a drug transaction had just been completed. They then made a traffic stop on Krankenberg in the 900 block of North Porter. They did a search of his vehicle where officers say they found approximately two-ounces of methamphetamine along with packaging materials in the vehicle. Also located by the officers were several syringes and a glass pipe.

Krankenberg is already serving time for a case where Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies did a search of his Chevy truck on K-96 at Sandcreek and found two ounces of meth, a zip lock bag of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging materials. They also allegedly found 100 Valium pills in three different pill bottles with the labels torn off. That was back on August 26, 2011.

He was convicted of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, possession of marijuana, and Valium, and no drug tax stamp. In that case, he was ordered to serve 158-months in prison.
