The federal shutdown is affecting several area lakes but that is not the case at Cheney State Park. According to officials, Cheney Lake Park and the lake are fully open for business.
Officials at the lake, which falls under the Bureau of Reclamation, reported to hutchpost.com that they are open for business, and hope people will brave the cooler temps and come out for the weekend.
While Cheney is not affected by the shut down, the north shore of Kanopolis Reservoir, El Dorado Lake and parts of Marion Reservoir that fall under the Army Corps of Engineers are closed.
With the summer camping season over, the closures are not having a major impact.
