The “National Take Back” initiative, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration in cooperation with the South Hutchinson Police Department will take place on Saturday October 26th, from 10:00 a-m to 2:00 p-m.

You can bring your expired, unwanted prescriptions, or over the counter medications for disposal to the South Hutchinson Police Department at 10 E. Blanchard.

The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Syringes, injectibles, and oxygen canisters will not be accepted.

The rates of prescription drug abuse in the U-S are increasing at alarming rates, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to the drugs.

Many citizens may not be aware of how to properly dispose of their unused medications. Flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away creates a potential safety and health hazard.

The “National Take Back” initiative offers the citizens of Reno County and the surrounding area a safe way to dispose of these medications.
