Hutchinson Police Arrest Man On Child Sex Charges

Hutchinson Police are still working a case that has led to a man being arrested on numerous charges associated with a child sex case.

25-year-old Michael Wayne Stahl is jailed on a 190-thousand dollar bond over charges including two counts of rape, two counts of electronic solicitation, and three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He is alleged to have been communicating with two 13-year-old girls through Facebook and also by text. That apparently led to him meeting the girls and then sexual encounters occurring.

Police became involved with a detective then communicating with Stahl, posing as a 14-year-old girl. That led to him showing up at an abandoned residence Tuesday morning to meet with the girl only to meet police instead.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell who helped police with the investigation declined to comment saying he’s looking over the reports and affidavits in the case. He will then decide what charges the state plans to file.

It’s unlikely that Stahl will be able to make the high bond, meaning he should make a first appearance on the charges Wednesday morning.
