Reno County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Reno County Fire and Reno County E-M-S were dispatched to K-61& Fairview for a semi rollover injury accident.
Jama Iprahim Sahal of Columbus, Ohio, was driving a 2014 Volvo Semi south bound in-route to California. His truck left the roadway, 121-feet west of Fairview Rd. he then attempted to get back on the roadway, but the trailer caused the truck to overturn onto it’s passenger side. The truck came to rest across both lanes of traffic. Sahal was wearing his seat-belt at the time of the accident, and was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
His passenger, Michael Robert Severon of Galloway, Ohio, was asleep in the rear sleeper section of the tractor trailer. He did not have a seat-belt on, but did have a safety net on top of him. He was transported to Hutchinson Regional also with minor injuries.
KDOT was called in to do traffic control and KHP assisted with the investigation.
The truck was operated by CRST Expedited Inc, and was pulling a fully loaded box cargo trailer. The trailer was full of department store items for Victoria Secret and Bath and Body Works. The trailer was too badly damaged to be up righted while loaded, so the 2000 + items were offloaded first.
Auto House Towing and Recovery was dispatched to the scene to recover the truck.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
