One of two people suspected of being involved with conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery has now been charged in a gun case by the feds.

Jason Casanova is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crime is alleged to have occurred on Aug. 1st. That date is different than the one for the conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery which allegedly occurred in June, the same month that Jennifer Heckel was murdered in her northwest Hutchinson home.

He is charged in the conspiracy case along with Kylie Hartman, while the state dropped the charge against a third person, Matthew Barnes.

If convicted on the federal charge, Casanova faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand dollars.

You my recall that Hartman along with 26-year-old Austin Elwell, are also charged in federal court. They face three counts of unlawful possession of ammunition by users of controlled substances. In addition, Hartman is charged with three counts of unlawful possession of ammunition after a felony conviction. Those crimes filed in federal are alleged to have occurred on Aug. 18.

None of these individuals have been charged in the murder of Jennifer Heckel. The only two charged with the murder is Charles Logsdon and Billy Craig Jr. They await a preliminary hearing on the charges in the murder case against them.

But, Hartman is charged in another case with Craig and Logsdon in a case where they’re accused of using a computer to try to make fake checks.

Casanova has previous convictions for drugs, reckless driving and forgery.
