Blue Dragons Look To Fill Arena With Buck Night On Saturday

The Hutchinson Community College Athletic Department announced Tuesday morning that it has added a promotion to the first-semester basketball schedule making Saturday night “Buck Night With The Blue Dragons.” The No. 4-ranked Hutchinson Community College men will renew their rivalry with the Butler Grizzlies in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. Before the men’s game, the No. 3-ranked Lady Dragons will take on Allen Community College at 5:30 p.m. and Coffeyville’s women will meet the Tabor College JV at 3:30 p.m. All general admission tickets will be $1 all day Saturday. All designated reserved seating sections will still be the regular $7. HCC All-Sport Tickets will be honored and HCC students will be admitted free with Student ID. Even though they aren’t Jayhawk West rivals anymore in basketball, Hutchinson’s rivalry with Butler is still white hot in all sports. Saturday’s basketball encounter will be the second of three meetings in three different sports this week between the Blue Dragons and Grizzlies. On Thursday, the HCC and Butler soccer teams will meet at 11 a.m. at Hummer Park in Topeka for the Region VI Tournament semifinals. Then on Sunday, the Blue Dragon and Grizzly football teams will clash for the Region VI football championship at 1:30 p.m. in El Dorado. The basketball teams will once again meet in El Dorado on Nov. 18 to complete the home-and-home non-conference series.
