The Hutchinson City Council, Tuesday took the concerns of owners of office buildings ad residents in the area of 11th & Main and denied a zoning request from the party interested in building a Family Dollar Store. The council voted 5-0 to deny the request after it had been approved by the Zoning Commission.
The action by the council ends a long road the proposal has traveled, which started clear back in October of last year, when the proposal first surfaced.
It was met with opposition from the beginning from owners and occupants of office buildings in that area. They believe that type of store doesn’t fit that area.
