The altercation between law enforcement and a 44-year-old Hutchinson man at the courthouse back on November 14 has led to some charges being filed against him.

Jimmy Aston is charged with felony interference with law enforcement and disorderly conduct. The first charge list several law enforcement officers as victims.

He had been arrested after he caused a disturbance over what was thought to be fraudulent checks.

Its started when he was arrested earlier by a South Hutchinson Police Officer for failure to appear in a South Hutchinson case. The officer noticed at the time some unusual checks but didn’t do anything on the issue at that time. Aston bonded on that case, and was then seen upstairs on the third floor of the courthouse and seemed distraught. They called law enforcement to check his welfare and he was deemed okay.

Later he was spotted outside the courthouse where two sheriff deputies wanted to talk to him about checks he had that seemed unusual. He then became upset and ran inside the courthouse where he started yelling at workers in the treasure’s department that they were trying to kill him. They caught up with him and the struggle began.

Hutchinson Police Detective Dean Harcrow who specializes in financial crimes cases was called to look at the checks and he thought they also appeared as fake. Later, a check with the bank showed they were good, in fact cashiers checks, but were for large amounts.

When Aston caused a disturbance in front of the treasures department, that caused law enforcement to respond including sort officers from the jail as well as other sheriff deputies and police.

He’s free on a 600-dollars bond and appeared in court Tuesday morning where he was read the formal charges.
