Hutchinson Fire crews braved the cold Tuesday evening to work a house fire in the 200 block of West 13th. They responded around 5:22 p-m, and found the entire roof engulfed in flames.

Hutchinson Fire crews braved the cold Tuesday evening to work a house fire in the 200 block of West 13th. They responded around 5:22 p-m, and found the entire roof engulfed in flames.

The fire was brought under control in 45-minutes. Units remained on scene throughout the night, clearing around 11:00 am Wednesday morning, along with investigators. Heavy damage was done to the roof and moderate to severe damage to the second and first floors. Damage will most likely result in a total loss.

The fire is considered to be accidental, with the exact cause is still under investigation.

There was 1-adult and 2-dogs in the residence at the time of fire, but no injuries were reported. Red Cross has been assisting the occupant.

The deep snow and freezing temperature made fighting the fire difficult. Extra crews were brought in to assist.

The area along 13th Avenue from Adams to Jefferson has large amounts of ice buildup from the water used to fight the fire. They urge residents to use caution in that area.
