The two men suspected in the murder of a Hutchinson woman were not in court Wednesday for a status hearing as scheduled, but we do know now the new dates when the pair will be in court next, and they won’t appear together.
48-year-old Billy Craig Jr., and 32-year-old Christopher Logsdon are both charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The complaint by the state alleges they are responsible for the death of 27-year-old Jennifer Heckel on the evening of June 14, 2011. She was found shot to death in her home at 501 Coronado in a northwest residential neighborhood of Hutchinson. Prosecutors say it appears she was a victim of mistaken identity.
Both Craig and Logsdon have been set at a half million in this case, however, both have other serious cases pending.
Judge Joe McCarville had set a preliminary hearing date in this case for October 25-27, however, its unlikely to happen with both defense attorney’s still seeking discovery in the case.
He says Billy Craig will be in court on October 27, on all three cases against him, while Logsdon may not appear in the murder case until November 16.
In the other cases against Craig, he’s alleged to have been involved in a conspiracy to commit crimes associated with a computer. The state is alleging that he along with Kylie Hartman and Kasey Pisoni made or attempted to make checks using a false identification and purchase a computer in furtherance of the conspiracy. Charles Logsdon is also suspected of being involved with this same conspiracy. Charges include conspiracy computer crime, and conspiracy to commit identity fraud.
Craig also has a drug case pending where he was allegedly involved with the possible sale of illegal narcotics.
The state is seeking a hard 50 sentence for the Craig and Logsdon, if they are convicted in the murder case.
Keep in mind, the dates set for the status hearings for the two suspects in this case and could change at any time.
