A 29-year-old Hutchinson woman was in court Thursday morning after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and a large amount of cash.

Nicole Walters was stopped by Drug Enforcement Officers at U-S 50 and Airport Road around 2 p-m Wednesday afternoon. During a search of her vehicle, officers say they found two ounces of ice meth, a digital scale, a glass pipe with residue, and 17-hundred dollars in cash. They also say they found a book consistent with owe sheets in the vehicle.

The initial charge according to the arrest report includes possession of meth with intent to sell, but she could also face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp.

She made a first appearance Thursday morning via-video in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen where she asked for a reduction of her 65-hundred dollar bond. That was denied by the judge and she’ll be back in court next Wednesday, or sooner if the state filed formal charges.
