Hutchinson Police and other emergency vehicles were called to the parking lot just south of the Subway Restaurant at 719 North Main for the report of a stabbing. A teen apparently suffering a wound while inside a vehicle in the lot, but nothing life threatening.

Those in the vehicle say it was an accident and after a police investigation, their story of what happened matched up. Apparently one of the young men had been using the knife to strip some wires then left the knife in the car and forgot about it. The three went into Subway to get sandwiches and then came out and got into the car. The victim apparently leaned into the knife and suffered the wound to his back.

He declined to be taken to the hospital by Reno County EMS, but was eventually treated at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Because the incident involved juveniles, there names were not made public.
