Reno County Commissioners held a public hearing and then approved the issuance of 6.9 million dollars in bonds for the new Pleasant View retirement development to be built north of Hutchinson on Halstead. The group based in Inman will pay off the bonds, but they will be issued by the county. This allows the group to move forward with the development.

The commission also approved a proposal from GSI Engineering of Wichita for special inspection and testing services for the new county jail being built in southeast Hutchinson at a cost not exceed 99-thousand dollars. Under the agreement, GSI will conduct regular testing on the steel work, concrete, masonry and other faucets of the construction.

They will also consider approval a request from Reno County Emergency Medical Services to increase run fees from 100-to-150 dollars for the volunteer ambulance services. Officials say with the Buhler Ambulance service shutting down this spring, they should have enough money to absorb this additional cost without having to increase their budget. That means it would increase from 37-thousand to 45-thousand. They say these fees help offset some of the cost associated with the volunteer service. The request was approved by all three commissioners.
