McPHERSON – After three days of trial, a McPherson County jury convicted 50-year-old John Wayne Cravens of attempted murder in the second degree. The charge was a result of events that took place in McPherson on June 27th.

The case centers on the stabbing of his 34-year-old girlfriend. Craven stabbed Shelby Coffin with a knife multiple times in the chest and abdomen. She was taken to McPherson Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

With the conviction, Cravens could be looking at a sentencing range of 55-to-247 months and a fine not to exceed 300-hundred thousand dollars.

His bond in the case set at 250-thousand dollars.
