A 14-year-old boy was injured while being struck by a vehicle outside Hutchinson Middle School 8, in the 200 block of West 14th.

According to police, 17-year-old Jacob Tyler Ice who lives in that area struck the 14-year-old as he was crossing the street. Edward Fernandez, not Hernandez as we had been saying.

The boy was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment, then later to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center. He has an injury to his femur according to his father who called the radio station to give us an update.

The accident occurring around 3:20 p-m, Thursday afternoon as school was letting out for the day.
