HESSTON – One person was killed, an another critically injured after a one vehicle accident on I-135 in Harvey County over the weekend.
Killed was 23-year-old Amy Hopkins of Manhattan. She was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 27-year-old David Schultz of Wichita. He was transported to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center listed in critical condition.
According to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, Schultz was northbound on the interstate, veered off the roadway striking a concrete bridge embankment, then went air bourne and hit the under side of a bridge.
The insterstate was closed for about an hour Saturday because of the crash which occurred just before 2:30 a-m, near Hesston.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
