HILLSBORO – A car-semi accident early Monday claimed the life of a 46-year-old Marion man. Killed was Gary J. Alleven.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Alleven was westbound on U-S 56 Highway, while a Kenworth semi driven by 25-year-old Samuel Unruh of Canton was pulling onto the highway from Santa Fe Street causing Alleven’s vehicle to rear end the trailer of the semi.

Alleven was pronounced dead at the scene while Unruh was not injured.

The accident occurring around 6:15 a-m, Monday morning, about 1.2-miles east of Hillsboro in Marion County.
