Hutch High sends record number to NFL nationals

Hutchinson High School

Hutchinson High School will send a school record number of debate and forensics students to the National Forensics League national tournament in June.

Saturday, HHS added five more qualifying entries to NFL nationals during the West Kansas NFL individual events qualifier at Salina’s Kansas Wesleyan University. NFL nationals will be June 15 to 20 in Overland Park.

HHS won the overall district sweepstakes trophy for the season. The award is given to the school with the highest total points scored during the whole school year at the qualifying tournaments in both debate and forensics. The Salthawks were first out of 15 schools, and nearly doubled the score for the second-place team. HHS was second in sweepstakes at Saturday’s NFL qualifier in Salina

HHS also won the West Kansas Bruno E. Jacobs District Award as having competed in the most rounds at district tournaments.
