Reno County Jail Committee Meeting Consists Of Discussions With Architect (WATCH)

The Reno County Jail Committee met again Thursday night, and talked with Dan Rowe with Treanor Architects, who the county is expected to hire to help with issues surrounding the proposal to build a new Reno County Jail.

We visited with Rowe after the meeting and he talked about working with Landmark Architects who will also be involved with the development of this project. (Watch the video)

The Reno County Commission is expected to approve his contract which calls for his firm getting 70-thousand, 700-dollars.

As for the site for the jail, thats still kind of up in the air. It appears that they still favor the grounds south of the Hutchinson Correctional Facility, but they may also may be looking at other sites, which have not been made public for negotiations purposes.

Rowe also thought it a good idea for the county to look at hiring a Construction Manager at Risk if any project is approved by voters. That person would coordinate everything involved with the construction of the facility.

No date was announced for the first of the four workshops thus far, but they will be spaced approximately 30-days a-part.
