Phone scam artist hits Pratt area

phone-scam-alert

Pratt, Kan. — Several phone calls have been made to residents in Pratt Wednesday from a man claiming to be with the City of Pratt electrical department. Officials say the caller tells the intended victim, that they owe a certain amount of money and if they don’t send money today, their electricity will be cut off.

Officials say so far, no callers have sent money. The city of Pratt nor Pratt County will ever call billing someone or threatening to cut off their services. They say if you receive one of these calls, hang up. If you receive call from anyone you do not know, or one who claims to be from the government and demanding money, hang up, don’t talk to them and don’t give them any personal information.

It’s the same for those who come to your door, if you don’t know them, don’t open the door and talk to them.
