HUTCHINSON, Kan. — It’s been a few years since Cheney Lake has been able to serve all the people who
come out on a holiday weekend.
This year it is different. With the lake bank full for the first time in three years, and all of the boat docks and facilities open, officials at the lake expect a good crowd for the extended weekend. Crowds at the lake have been down the past few years as boat ramps were left high and dry by the drought. A crowd estimated at about 40,000 is expected at the lake.
While all of the established camp sites and cabin are taken for the weekend, there is still plenty of primitive camping available.
