Beating death in Manhattan being investigated as a homicide.

MANHATTAN – Riley County Police continue their investigation into the beating death of a 31-year-old man last week.

They’re looking for a white vehicle occupied by 3-black males reportedly seen in the area around the time of the attack.

The victim, Kevin Lynn Cockrum was found on the ground unconscious in the 1000 block north alley of Moro St., in Manhattan. Riley County E-M-S transported him to Mercy Health Center with life-threatening head injuries. He was flown Thursday to Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita in critical condition, but died the next day. It is believed that Cockrum was beaten by unknown individuals.

The case has now been classified as a homicide, and anyone who has any information about this vehicle or the victim around the time of the attack is asked to call Detective Brek Jager at (785) 537-2112 ext. 3100.
