Hutchinson man enters ‘guilty’ plea to rape

Sebastion Muns

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 20-year-old Hutchinson man arrested for a sex case that goes back to late March of 2013 entered a “guilty” plea as charged Friday.

Sebastion Muns is now convicted on a single count of “rape,” for having had sex with a girl who was 13-years-old at the time. Although the alleged crime occurred in March, the victim who’s now 14, didn’t report the incident till September of last year. That led to a police investigation and the filing of the charge by the District Attorney’s Office. They then issued a warrant for his arrest. The sexual encounter was allegedly consensual according to police, but under Kansas law still falls under the statute of “rape.”

As part of the plea agreement, both sides will recommend a downward departure when sentencing occurs of June 19.
