HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Two people arrested in association with the theft a large amount of copper from various businesses and private individuals were in court this morning where they were read the formal charges against them.

28-year-old Robin Davis and 30-year-old Anthony Treaster are both charged with felony theft for stealing copper valued between $25,000, but less then $100,000. The crimes allegedly occurring between February 24, and April 2. They’re accused of stealing copper from New Smoke, Reno County Head Start, the Salvation Army, L.R Boyd & Company, Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home, Eggers Investments and Kelly J. Graber.

Both are also charged with conspiracy to commit theft.

Davis is also charged with 5-counts of making false information for taking copper to Midwest Iron and Metal in February and March of this year.

Treaster is also charged with non-residential burglary for allegedly breaking into the old Bett’s Bakery to 120 East 3rd.

Bond for Davis is set at $40,000 and $43,500. for Treaster. He asked for an reduction in bond denying he did any of the crimes charged. That was denied because of prior crimes. That includes convictions for possession of drugs and criminal possession of weapons for cases going back to 2011.

Both will be back in court in June.
