HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 29-year-old Hutchinson man with five drug related cases pending was expected to possibly enter a plea Friday, but the plea will apparently be made during a special setting.

Judge Tim Chambers decided that because of the number of cases against Arthur Adams, it would be better to have a special setting for any plea entered.

The agreement has been in the works for Arthur for sometime and it doesn’t appear he’ll be going anywhere soon. He remains jailed on a bond of $187,000.

Adams had waived his right to a preliminary hearing and entered “not guilty” pleas in all five cases and was to consider the plea offer from the state by the time he was arraigned, but that didn’t happen and still no plea has been made. Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton had stated earlier that if the defendant didn’t accept the plea offer, he would considering adding a charge of racketeering.

Most of the cases against Adams involve the distribution of drugs with the first case going back to 2012. If convicted, he could receive a considerable amount of time in prison.

Adams has a previous conviction for being in possession of drugs for a case from 2007.

No date was announced for a special setting for him to enter a plea in the cases.
