HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The employees of Fee Insurance Group have established a benefit fund at First National Bank of Hutchinson for Lacey Deardoff, a 2008 Hutchinson High School graduate who sustained major injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Overland Park on Saturday.

Lacey’s mother, Jerri Deardoff, has worked in several capacities for Fee Insurance Group for the past five years. “Jerri is such an important part of our team, and we were all at a loss about how to support her through this tough time,” said Allen Fee, CEO of Fee Insurance Group. “The staff suggested that a fund be established so they and others could help Lacey as she works through what will certainly be a long recovery.”

Lacey, 24, was driving to work in Overland Park early Saturday morning when she pulled over to assist a driver who had hit a median. The driver of an oncoming van swerved to avoid hitting debris in the road, and crashed into the parked vehicle, which in turn hit both Lacey and the woman she was helping.

Lacey was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She is being kept in an induced coma while doctors operate on her broken ribs, leg, collar bone, shoulder, and other injuries.

Contributions to the Lacey Deardoff Recovery Fund can be made at any First National Bank of Hutchinson location.

She is the daughter of Hutchinson City Manager John Deardoff.
