US-50 project delayed by weather

HUTCHINSON, Kan.— Rain is hampering efforts to get a major K-Dot road project underway in the area.us-50

According to Martin Miller with the regional Kansas Department of Transportation office, the US-50 overlay project was to begin Monday, but has been pushed back to at least Thursday. With more rain on the way, the start could be delayed even further. KDOT wants to get the project started soon because of the length of time it will take to finish.

The plan is to resurface US-50 from Newton all the way to Obee road near Hutchinson. The nearly 30-mile stretch of road will be reduced to one lane where the work is ongoing. Miller says motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Miller says he will let the public know when the project finally gets underway.
