HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle accident in a field north of K96/K14
east junction, South of South Hutchinson.
Upon arrival deputies confirmed there was a deceased male occupant still inside the vehicle which was still running and in gear. Deputy Darrian Campbell said there were no apparent injuries or wounds to indicate cause of death.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling South bound on K96, at approximately Mills Rd, when the driver possibly suffered a stroke or cardiac arrest. The car left the roadway and entered the median. The vehicle continued south bound through the median, went through the northbound lane, and into the east ditch where it went through a KDOT fence and eventually came to rest in a field. The reporting party had observed the vehicle earlier in the morning around 8am. When the the person drove by some time later the vehicle and occupant was still in the field. It was then they called to 911.
