Accident northeast of Hutchinson causes headaches, but no injuries.

MEDORA – There were no injuries, but did cause a traffic tie-up for about 3 and half hours Tuesday morning on K-61 at 85th Street.

According to Reno County Sheriff Captain Wayne Baughman, a Kenworth semi driven by 53-year-old Bernardino Tajeda of Wichita was northbound and apparently didn’t see a pickup pulling a 5th wheel attempting to make a left turn. He swerved right with the semi but then clipped the front end of a 2008 Mini-van driven by District Judge Patty Macke-Dick. She had come to the intersection to get onto K-61.

The semi and its trailer both fell onto their side, the trailer carrying gravel tipped over on its side in the ditch and the semi tipped over in the northbound lanes.

As we mentioned, no one was hurt, but did cause the northbound lanes of the highway to be closed for most of the morning.

The accident occurring around 8 a-m.
