Hutch man jailed for battery-DV, kidnapping for threatening girlfriend with crossbow

A 35-year-old Hutchinson man managed to get a bond of 105-thousand dollars reduced to 75-thousand after he appeared in court on charges of battery-domestic violence and kidnapping.

Steve Thompson of 111 East D, in Hutchinson is alleged to have made threats against his girlfriend at the home while holding a crossbow, however according Police Lt. Marty Robertson, he never actually pointed the crossbow at her.

The victim at some point tried to leave and Thompson then allegedly grabbed her and pulled her back inside where he held her against her will for a considerble time. Robertson says thats where the kidnapping charge comes in.

They apparently had an argument of some kind leading to the escalation of the incident.

All this occurring about 6:30 a-m Saturday morning.

Thompson could be back in court again as early as Wednesday if the state files formal charges.
