PRATT, Kan. – The shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Pratt County was ruled as accidental according to officials.

Two juvenile boys, ages 15 and 16, were target practicing in an area south of the Ninnescah River, east of Lemon Park in Pratt. They say a 42-year-old homeless man was sleeping behind a trash barrel that was being shot into and was struck in a leg by one of the rounds. The boys called for help and cooperated with the investigation. The victim was taken to Pratt Regional Medical C enter where he was being treated for his wound.

The shooting was reported just after 11:30 a.m, Wednesday. A short time later, officers located the two teens.

No names will be released from this incident and the case will be sent to the Pratt County Attorney for further review.

PRATT, Kan. — The Pratt County Sheriff’s Office, Pratt Police Department, and Pratt County Emergency Services were called to a shooting at 11:33 a.m. Wednesday in an area east of Lemon Park. Shortly after arrival, a Pratt County Sheriff’s Officer located the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Pratt EMS to Pratt County Regional Medical Center where he’s currently being treated for his wound.

A short time later, officers located two other individuals in the area who are currently being questioned. The Pratt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and the Pratt Police Department assisted at the scene.

More information is expected to be released later this evening.
