HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The county sales tax numbers for August show a drop from last month, but is still more than what the county generated in August of last year.

According to the numbers released Monday by County Treasurer Jan Hull, the county collected $381,408 compared to $404,614 in July, a difference of $23,206. But last year, the county only collected $374,360.

So far this year, the county has collected $3,038,355. Last year, the total to this point was $2,909,928, meaning they are ahead for the year by nearly $129,000.

The numbers for August show collections of sales tax for the month of June.
