Illegal immigrant living in Hutchinson charged in Federal Court

WICHITA – A 26-year-old man who was apparently has been living in Hutchinson, but is an alleged illegal alien has been charged in federal court with a number of crimes.

Juan Manuel Araujo-Gutierrez is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, one count of possession of false documents, three counts of aggravated identity theft, one count of making a false written statement to the government and one count of misusing a Social Security number.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred in 2009 and 2011, here in Hutchinson

If convicted of unlawful possession of a firearm by an illegal alien, he faces a maximum penalty of 10-years. For possession of false documents, he faces a maximum penalty of 10-years, and for aggravated identity theft, he faces a mandatory two years consecutive to other sentences. For making a false written statement to the government, the maximum penalty is five years and for misusing a Social Security number, the maximum penalty of five years.
