Fatal Kansas crash discovered after 2-plus weeks

JUNCTION CITY (AP) – The Kansas Highway Patrol says a fatality accident discovered this week along Interstate 70 apparently happened more than two weeks ago.

WIBW-TV 13 in Topeka reports a UPS driver spotted a red pickup truck Thursday in a ditch about 130 feet off the highway in Geary County, about 8 miles east of Junction City. Troopers
responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle and found the body of the driver inside.

The Highway Patrol identified the man as James A. Brown, a 67-year-old veteran from Memphis, Tenn. Authorities believe his pickup went off the highway Oct. 25, but patrol Lt. Gregory Harkrader says Brown had not been reported missing.

Investigators believe Brown was driving to Arizona when he had a heart attack and lost control of the pickup.
