Hutchinson High School saw gains in most areas in average ACT scores in 2011, compared to 2010.
The School’s average composite score in 2011 was 22.2 compared to 22.0 in 2010. Statewide, the average ACT composite score stayed the same at 22.0.
Both Kansas and Hutchinson High School’s average score was higher than the national average of 21.1 out of a possible 36.
A total of 153 students took the ACT at Hutch High in 2011.
In English, 2011 average scores for Hutch High increased to 21.5 from 21.3. For mathematics, 2011 average scores increased to 21.9 from 21.6. In reading, 2011 scores averaged 22.6, falling from 22.9. In science, the average 2011 score was 22.2, compared to 22.0 in 2010.
For Hutch, 76 percent hit the benchmark for English composition, compared to 73 percent statewide. For college algebra, 53 percent of students hit the benchmark, compared to 51 percent statewide. For social science, 67 percent hit the benchmark, compared to 60 percent statewide, and for biology, 35 percent of Hutch High students hit the benchmark, compared to 34 percent statewide.
For all four areas, 31 percent of students met the benchmarks, compared to 28 percent statewide.
