A 46-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in July was scheduled for court today to enter a plea in the case.

Troy Snell is charged with aggravated battery or in the alternative, abuse of a child after police were called because of the alleged beating. After the incident, Snell apparently left the home in the 1200 block of East 4th, but came back while police were on scene, and was then arrested.

The boy believed to be 11-or-12 years old was allegedly struck and kicked numerous times and had to be taken to Promise Regional Medical Center for treatment according to Police Juvenile Detective John Taylor.

He was scheduled to enter a plea in the case Friday, but the hearing has been continued until a special setting can be determined.

Snell at one time had been charged with rape and aggravated kidnapping in a separate case when on January 16, he allegedly held the victim against her will, then sexually attacked her. He was also charged with aggravated sodomy, criminal threat and domestic battery. That case was dismissed back in April by the state when the victim failed to show for the preliminary hearing 3-times.

Snell has previous convictions for burglary, drugs, and other misdemeanor convictions which was also a factor in the bond being raised.
